Competency Assessment and Supervision

TrainWithCare will ensure that competence and knowledge is developed through direct work with the person or child and their family. In the case of new-born infants, children and adults with complex needs under the care of an acute trust TrainWithCare will work in partnership with the acute trust to ensure the necessary training and competence required is achieved through shadowing and other agreed means to support and encourage discharge at home.

Competences will be signed off and re-assessed at 6 months and annually thereafter or in response to changing needs as assessed by community nursing team.

Clinical Supervision to staff can be provided in groups or individually face to face or via telephone. In the first 6 months of employment, supervision time will be a minimum of 1 x 1 hour visit to work placement every other month (unless agreed otherwise in the care support plan).
